THE HOLIDAY SEASON HAS ALREADY STARTED: WHAT SHOULD A BUSINESS REVIEW BEFORE INCREASING ITS MARKETING BUDGET?

October is now part of the year-end commercial season. Recent reporting shows a longer promotional calendar and growing competition for attention well before Black Friday. For a business, that can trigger an automatic reaction: spend more. But increasing the budget without reviewing the full system can amplify what is already not working.

1. What is the campaign actually trying to achieve?

Sales, leads, bookings, traffic, and awareness require different signals. If the objective changes every week, performance becomes difficult to judge.

Define one primary action and the metrics that indicate progress before expanding spend.

2. Does the message deserve more reach?

A weak campaign does not become clearer because more people see it. Review the offer, audience, creative, and landing page first.

Marketing Dive reported on October 16 that AppLovin data showed advertisers adding new creative weekly saw 23% higher ROI than advertisers adding creative only once or twice. It is a useful testing signal, not a universal guarantee.

3. Can operations absorb the result?

More demand can mean more messages, orders, deliveries, and returns. Before buying traffic, review response and fulfillment capacity.

A successful campaign that creates a poor customer experience can simply move the problem downstream.

4. What will the business learn even if the campaign does not win?

Decide what you are comparing: message, audience, offer, channel, or format. Changing everything at once makes the result difficult to explain.

Peak season can also function as a learning period when measurement is disciplined.

Spending more should be a conclusion, not the starting point

The holiday season rewards preparation. Before increasing the budget, know which message works, where it converts, and what the business can deliver.
The goal is not to appear everywhere. It is to make sure each additional dollar reaches a system that is ready to use it.
